The Cooperative Training
Program between the International University, Vietnam and the Rutgers State
University, The State University of New Jersey (http://www.rutgers.edu/).

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is the premier public
university of New Jersey and one of the oldest and most highly regarded
institutions of higher education in the nation. With nearly 50,000 students and
over 9,000 faculty and staff on its three campuses in Camden, Newark, and New
Brunswick, Rutgers is a vibrant academic community committed to the highest
standards of teaching, research, and service.

Industrial engineering at Rutgers started in 1947 as the Engineering
Administration Program which became the Industrial Engineering Program in 1956
and in the same year it became part of Mechanical, Industrial and Aerospace
Engineering Department. Graduate program in IE started in 1963, offering MSIE
degrees. Finally, the Department of Industrial Engineering was established as a
separate unit in College of Engineering in 1981 and the Ph.D. program was
approved in 1991. In 2002, the faculty decided to change the department's name
to Industrial and Systems Engineering thinking that it would better represent
program's research and teaching activities and interest.
Currently there are 11 faculty members, about 90 undergraduate and
55 graduate students in the department. The program offers BS, MS and PhD
degrees in industrial and Systems Engineering. The undergraduate program offers
specialization via tracks in Supply Chain, Manufacturing Systems, Financial
Service Systems, Healthcare Management Systems, Quality Engineering and
Information Technology. The graduate program offers tracks in Systems
Engineering, Quality and Reliability Engineering, Manufacturing Systems
Engineering and Information Technology.

The Cooperative Training
program in Industrial System Engineering between International University,
Vietnam and Rutgers University is a 2+2 degree program. It allows students to
spend the first two years studying at the International University and the other
two years at the Rutgers State University, The State University of New Jersey.
On completion of the course, students are granted the Bachelor degree of the
Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey. In addition, the
education medium, including teaching and learning have met the requirements and
complied with the standards set by the Rutgers University, The State University
of New Jersey.

The Cooperative Training
Program between the International University, Vietnam and the University of SUNY
Binghamton, State University of New York – Binghamton (http://www2.binghamton.edu/).
Binghamton
University opened its doors as Triple Cities College in 1946 to serve the needs
of local veterans returning from service in World War II. Originally located in
Endicott, five miles west of the present campus, the fledgling school was a
branch of Syracuse University. Four years later, when the college was
incorporated into the State University of New York, it was renamed Harpur
College in honor of Robert Harpur, a Colonial teacher, patriot and pioneer, who
devoted his later years to settling the area around Binghamton.

Until 1953, Harpur College was one of only two public liberal arts
colleges in the state. In 1961, the campus was moved across the Susquehanna
River to Vestal. Growing enrollment and a reputation for excellence soon led to
the selection of Harpur College as one of four doctorate-granting University
Centers in the state system. In 1965, the campus was formally designated the
State University of New York at Binghamton. Binghamton University was adopted as
our informal name in 1992.

In a little over 60 years, Binghamton University has built a
reputation as a world-class institution that combines a broadly
interdisciplinary,
international education with one
of the most vibrant
research programs in the nation.
Binghamton is
proud to be a "premier
public university," which means we challenge our students
academically, not financially. The result is a unique, best-of-both-worlds
college experience.

The
Department of Systems Science and Industrial
Engineering (SSIE) was established on July 1, 1994. It was a result
of the merger of the erstwhile Systems Science Department with the Industrial
Engineering segment of the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department.
Brought together to leverage potential areas of commonality, the new department
has grown significantly since its
inception.
Today, the department has grown from seven faculty members and one staff member
in 1994 to 14 faculty members including several research professors, and a
number of research staff. At present, the SSIE department includes over 80
undergraduates (cumulatively from the sophomore to the senior year), and about
170 graduate students, including 60 doctoral students.
