We cordially invite students and researchers who are interested in following projects to join us:

Funded projects:

[1] Survey of the states of current medical devices used in regional hospitals and sold by regional industry. Funded by: International University Research Fund. 30 millions VND.

[2] Non-invasive monitoring of fetal electrocardiogram (ECG). Funded by: International Research Fund. 30 millions VND.

[3] Mathematical Algorithms on Chaos and Fractals to analyze the Electroencephalogram (EEG) for detecting human seizures. Funded by: Department of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City, 300 millions VND.

[4] Mathematical Algorithms on Chaos and Fractals to analysis Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) for detecting movement related activities of human brain. Funded by: Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City Research fund, 200 millions VND.

On-going research:

[1] Investigation of the relationship between unbalance in jaw and the loss of strength in the arms: This project requires the development of new devices to determine the relationship between the degree of unbalance of the jaw and the loss of strength in the arms.

[2] Healthcare Information Technology: This project aims toward the management of healthcare data in Vietnam in such a way that patients in remote areas can be better taken care.

[3] Development of single function medical devices and multiple function health monitoring system: This project plans to develop inexpensive and portable devices for out-patients or for bed-side monitoring applicable in telemedicine.

[4] Computational Surgery: The goals of this project is to develop ways to transform the surgical art into a science to transfer the skills to other people. The developments can be a software to help surgeons to take a decision, a robot to help in the delicate surgical operations, or new surgical techniques and instrumentation.

[5] Effects of electromagnetic fields on stem cells: Stem cells are the cells that can be differentiated into other cells. This study investigates the effects of electrical, magnetic fields and microwave on the stem cells. It may shed light to the understanding of the possible cancer caused by the exposure to these fields.

[6] Hemodynamics of human visual cortex evoked by flickering light stimulation: This is a non-invasive method using NIRS to detect the variations of oxy-hemoglobin and deoxy-hemoglobin in this part of the brain. It may help to understand the mechanism of the human visual system.

[7] Investigation of the long term effects of the anti-snoring dental devices: snoring is a consequence of the airway collapsing during sleep. Dental devices developed to keep the airway opened proved to be effective against snoring. However, depending on the design of the devices, these devices may cause pains to the temporomandibular joints (TMJ). In this project we investigate the short and long term effects of these devices.

[8] Miniaturization of device that assists dry-eye treatment: Dry eye is a state of the eyes lacking tears. It can cause infection and blindness. This study will help the treatment of the dry eyes and the investigation of the cause of this disease.

[9] Development of an Electronic Cervical Range of Motion Measurement System: Neck pain is a common musculoskeletal disorder, for which large numbers of patients receive medical treatment every year. The diagnosis and the evaluation of treatment success in patients with neck pain often require a continuous physical assessment of the range of motion (ROM) of the cervical spine. Therefore it is important to develop a portable device that the patient could use to follow up how the treatment progresses.

[10] Development of educational toys: The aim of the project is to develop a toy that researchers can use to investigate the cognitive behavior and the levels of intelligence of children. The parents and educators can use them to help children develop their mental development and social behavior.
